The 13th Floor

Fans of independent horror cinema not only know the name of Larry Fessenden, founder of celebrated production company Glass Eye Pix and writer-director-star of cult vampire classic HABIT, but they know his face as well: he’s appeared onscreen in dozens of horror projects — from Brad Anderson’s chilling SESSION 9 to the hit horror game UNTIL DAWN and recent festival faves WE ARE STILL HERE and THE MIND’S EYE.

On the 30th Anniversary of Glass Eye Pix’s inception, Fessenden’s work is enjoying an impressive revival, thanks in part to Shout! Factory’s upcoming release of his features HABIT, WENDIGO, NO TELLING and THE LAST WINTER on Blu-ray, and a new series of revival screenings including his haunting, dread-fulled 2001 horror/drama WENDIGO, starring Jake Weber.

In “The Shape of the Wendigo” — which today you can only watch right here — Larry discusses the many faces of the Wendigo legend in his work. This featurette is one of a new series celebrating Glass Eye Pix’s 30th Anniversary, directed and edited by Adam Barnick.

WENDIGO will be screening in New York City tonight and Saturday night, 11:35pm, at IFC Center. The screening is part of a month-long series of midnight showings to pay tribute to 30 years of Glass Eye Pix.

Also, Slamdance Cinema Club will present WENDIGO in Los Angeles at the Arclight Hollywood on Monday, October 19th at 8pm, with Fessenden and Weber in attendance. Additionally, Slamdance Cinema Club will screen the Glass Eye Pix production I SELL THE DEAD on Sunday, October 18th at 8pm, with Fessenden and co-stars Ron Perlman and Angus Scrimm attending!

Attention fans in the L.A. area! Glass Eye Pix are giving away a limited number of tickets for the WENDIGO and I SELL THE DEAD Arclight screenings mentioned above! Just email for a shot at one of 100 free passes for each showing. But act fast — these will sell out quickly!

Shout! Factory’s THE LARRY FESSENDEN COLLECTION — a Blu-ray box set of Fessenden’s films NO TELLING, WENDIGO, HABIT, and THE LAST WINTER, along with tons of bonus features — is now available for pre-order, and will be released next Tuesday, October 20th.

Coming next month: look for SUDDEN STORM: A WENDIGO READER — a paper-bound volume of essays and art curated by Fessenden himself, published by Fiddleblack.
