It is with great sadness that we report that director George Romero passed away today at age 77. Considered to be the “father of zombie movies,” Romero had been battling lung cancer and died in his sleep.
His horror movie career began in 1968 with the legendary horror classic NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD. Romero then followed it up with a number of ground breaking horror films like SEASON OF THE WITCH, MARTIN, CREEPSHOW, as well as his entire “OF THE DEAD” franchise which includes films like DAY OF THE DEAD and DAWN OF THE DEAD.
