Wow. Here’s one we didn’t see coming.
Following up on his two Westerns, DJANGO UNCHAINED and THE HATEFUL EIGHT, it looks like famed filmmaker Quentin Tarantino is going to 1969 for his next feature.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the writer/directer has quietly started meeting with talent about appearing in his next film, “a unique take on the Manson Family murders.” The script is currently untitled, but Harvey and Bob Weinstein are producing.
From THR scoop, “Sources say that Tarantino is putting the finishing touches on the script and that Brad Pitt, who worked with the filmmaker on BASTERDS, and Jennifer Lawrence have been approached.” The plan would be to shoot in the summer of 2018.
There have been plenty of cinematic depictions of the Manson family in the past, HELTER SKELTER being one of the most well known, but it’d be fascinating to see how Taratino approaches this material.
What do you guys think?
