One of the biggest surprises and cultural phenomenon’s of last year had to be the original Netflix series STRANGER THINGS, created by Matt and Ross Duffer. Set in the early 80’s, we follow a group of boys and their new mysterious female companion Eleven as they search for their missing friend. An alternate dimension known as the “Upside Down,” secret government experiments, and the town’s heroic, yet broken sheriff also all come into play. It paid tribute to everything we loved about that era, played like a long lost Stephen King novel and was thoroughly entertaining as hell.
So, naturally, there’s got to be a sequel!
And now we know it’ll arrive on October 27th.
All 9 episodes will debut on Netflix Halloween weekend, and below you’ll find the tease and poster!
We should be seeing more from STRANGER THINGS 2 at Comic-Con. Here’s the teaser for that panel.
What else we know so far? The new season will consist of 9 episodes set in the year 1984.
The titles, as we know them, are: Madmax, The Boy Who Came Back to Life, The Pumpkin Patch, The Palace, The Storm, The Pollywog, The Secret Cabin, The Brain, and The Lost Brother.
Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Finn Wolfhard, Millie Brown, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Noah Schnapp, Natalia Dyer, Cara Buono, Charlie Heaton, and Matthew Modine all return. New cast additions include Sadie Sink, Dacre Montgomery, Brett Gelman, Linnea Berthelsen, Sean Astin, and Paul Reiser.
“We obviously have this gate to another dimension, which is still very much open in the town of Hawkins,” Ross Duffer told EW last year. “And a lot of questions there in terms of, if the Monster is dead, was it a singular monster? What else could be out there? We really don’t go in there much until they go in to find Will at the end. So we’ve opened up this doorway, and to us it’s exciting to talk about, like, what else is behind there? There’s a lot more mystery there to be solved.”
