From the “Too Good to Be True” files comes a recent job posting on Childcare.co.uk, which has suddenly gone viral this week, popping up in articles by Cosmopolitan, Mashable and AOL News… for reasons which will soon become apparent.
According to the listing, a married couple in Scotland — whose careers include a great deal of travel on weekdays — are seeking “an exceptional live-in nanny” for their children, aged 5 and 7.
Duties include “preparing breakfast, getting the children ready for school, dropping off and picking up from school and assisting after school, including helping with homework and getting them ready for bed.” The position would also provide the nanny with their own private room, bathroom and kitchen.
So far, so good… it sounds storybook-level cozy, in fact. But just keep reading.
“We have lived in our home for nearly 10 years,” the parents write. “We were told it was ‘haunted’ when we bought it, but kept our minds open and decided to buy the house regardless. 5 nannies have left the role in the last year [emphasis mine], each citing supernatural incidents as the reason, including strange noises, broken glass and furniture moving.”
Still interested? As of this writing, the listing remains open.
Personally, I’m seeing a MARY POPPINS-meets-THE SHINING scenario eventually unfolding there… but that’s just how my mind works, I guess.
