For those of us that are die-hard movie collectors, the home video market is vast. Sure, the big studios may not be putting too much care into their library titles, but that’s where cinefiles come in. Most end up at a label where they’re able to restore and put out these titles on Blu-Ray or DVD. In the last several years, while dozens have popped up, none quite have the selection that Code Red DVD offers.
Among their titles are cult classics such as HOUSE BY THE EDGE OF THE PARK, JULIE DARLING, THE HOUSE ON SORORITY ROW, MIND RIPPER aka THE HILLS HAVE EYES III, CUT-THROATS NINE, BUTCHER BAKER NIGHTMARE MAKER, and many, many more.
And at the helm of Code Red is one man. No, seriously. It’s all one guy, and his name is Bill Olsen.
While his interactions online with some of the label’s customers on social media can be misconstrued as somewhat “hostile,” the following insightful interview with Elric Kane and Brian Saur on the Pure Cinema Podcast proved that he’s much more of a comedian and genuine movie enthusiast rather than what his online persona suggests. And let’s face it, if there’s one genre whose fanbase is full of complainers about everything, it’d be horror.
