I love vampire movies. The ones that I love the most tend to be unique, challenging, fiercely original. For example, the Swedish masterpiece LET THE RIGHT ONE IN, Larry Fessenden’s HABIT, George Romero’s MARTIN, Kathryn Bigelow’s NEAR DARK. There are so many great gems yet to be uncovered. And I like this seemingly current trend of new indie vampire flicks.
Just a few weeks back, we saw the release of THE TRANSFIGURATION. (See that trailer here.) Now we have AARON’S BLOOD, from writer/director Tommy Stovall. Check out this trailer.
Pretty cool, right? I like this very realistic and dramatic take on the vampire lore. This one is in theaters June 2nd, 2017, and available on demand and on digital HD on June 6th, 2017. Here’s the full synopsis and poster.
Aaron copes with his new life as a single father and the distant relationship he shares with his only child Tate. A timid hemophiliac, Tate is roughed up at school by the chief bully causing a massive nosebleed that lands him in the hospital fighting for his life. He makes a miraculous recovery after a necessary blood transfusion, but Aaron begins to notice progressively strange behaviors in his son. Faced with the grim possibility that his son could be becoming a vampire, Aaron enlists the help of a local vampire hunter and embarks on a frantic search to find the source of the infection to stop the transformation before it’s too late.
