Ever since it was announced as part of a crowd funding campaign, horror fans have been clamoring for the end-all / be-all video game exploits of the one and only notorious movie maniac Jason Voorhees. After developing the game for the last few years, Gun Media has been bringing in key people from the FRIDAY THE 13TH franchise to participate, such as Kane Hodder who did motion capture for Jason and helped concoct some of the game’s gory kills, Thom Matthews to reprise his role as Tommy Jarvis, and even FX legend Tom Savini, who designed a brand new Jason design specifically for the game.
Now, not only is the game ready to be unleashed upon an unsuspecting public, but we have a date, as revealed in this brand new “announcement trailer.” It also gives us a good glimpse at the game, including the many versions of Jason you can play, and some of the gruesome kills you can inflict! Or, you can play as a camp councilor and try to defeat Jason!
We’ve come a far way since that Nintendo FRIDAY THE 13TH game, huh? But hey, I still have a soft spot for that version too!
As the announcement trailer indicates, FRIDAY THE 13TH: THE GAME will launch on May 26th, 2017! It’ll be available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Microsoft Windows. Learn more about FRIDAY THE 13TH: THE GAME on the official website right here.
Also of note, I saw this over on Bloody-Disgusting a few days back and thought it was worth a share. As I mentioned above, Tom Savini designed a new version of Jason for this game. And naturally, You Tube user and FRIDAY fan Big Hush has already created a mask version based on the Savini design. Have a look below!
