I don’t know about you guys, but I’m pretty darned tired of the “found footage” sub-genre. Once in a blue moon, someone will come up with a clever way of re-utilizing it as a storytelling tool, but those examples are few and far between. Might this one be an example of a good, scary found footage flick?
PHOENIX FORGOTTEN is coming to us from Scott Free, Ridley Scott’s production company, so there’s that. And it’s applying the formula to UFO sightings and potential alien attacks. Here’s the synopsis:
“Three teens went into the desert to document the most widely viewed UFO sighting in history. Their footage is all that remains.”
Sigh. Look. We know it’s not real. We know it’s not actual footage left over from a supposedly real shoot. But let’s suspend disbelief and have a look at the actual trailer, shall we?
Hmm…. looks pretty cool, in particular, the spooky last few seconds of this trailer. What do you guys think?
Either way, this arrives in theaters April 21st! Below is the theatrical one-sheet poster.
