Epic Gary Pullin Interview In Episode 1 of RATED ART: SCENES OF A GRAPHIC NATURE

For fans of horror art, and in particular the artwork of the great Gary Pullin, you are in for one epic treat!

Scott Johannsson, the former co-host of soundtrack podcast The Damn Fine Cast, and one of the people behind the record label Ondes Positives (which put out an excellent double LP soundtrack to the 1961 cult classic THE MASK) has now launched a new video series which profiles some of the best artists in the biz. It’s called RATED ART, and as the description in the debut episode states, it’s “a series of profiles of contemporary artists and designers working in the world of film posters, vinyl soundtracks, pop culture art and beyond.”

Canadian illustrator and designer ‘Ghoulish’ Gary Pullin is the focus of the first episode embedded below. You’d recognize his signature style in posters, packaging and designs for Rue Morgue, Skuzzles, Mondo, Waxwork Records, Death Waltz Recording Co., Horror Hound, Glass Eye Pix and many more.

He has contributed key art for feature films such as GOON, THE BABADOOK and the upcoming THE VOID, and Blu-Ray sleeve design for many Arrow Video releases. As well as discussing his career to this point, we get in-depth about two recent projects: the vinyl soundtrack release of THE MONSTER SQUAD (Mondo) and the upcoming PHANTASM Blu-Ray box set from Arrow Video. This first episode is about 45 minutes long, so be sure to carve out some quality time and enjoy!
