Robert Englund Returns One Last Time As Freddy For Documentary NIGHTMARES IN THE MAKEUP CHAIR

It’s been a long, long time since we’ve seen a cinematic outing with everyone’s favorite night-stalking boogeyman, Freddy Krueger. And it’s been 14 years since Robert Englund, who originated the role, donned the infamous glove in FREDDY VS JASON. We were all hoping Englund would give us one more Freddy movie, one way or another.

HENRY: PORTRAIT OF A SERIAL KILLER director John McNaughton had flirted with a prequel film of Krueger’s demise with Englund as a pre-burned Freddy, which sadly never came to fruition. Instead, we got the awful, can-we-just-forget-this-ever-happened Platinum Dunes remake. But at last, Englund is putting on the makeup one last time, but not in the way any of us expected.

The documentary NIGHTMARES IN THE MAKEUP CHAIR is due out later this year.

Back in 2014, Englund did two convention appearances where fans were offered a chance to take a photo with Enlgund in the Freddy make-up one last time. Robert Kurtzman was the man that applied the infamous Freddy face, and that was the impetus for this documentary.  “I’ve always been in awe of the multitalented makeup effects artists,” explained Englund in a statement. “This documentary not only captures their talent, but I think it might inspire a new generation of practical effects artists. I was happy to become Freddy once again to share the makeup process with the fans.”
