Wow. This really is the end!
Our friends over at Entertainment Weekly just debuted the new trailer, along with some images of Rihanna as Marion Crane for the 5th and final season on A&E’s BATES MOTEL! The show has been a loose adaptation/prequel to Robert Bloch’s original novel, which in turn was turned into the 1960 Alfred Hitchcock masterpiece PSYCHO. This final season will re-interpret some of the threads (such as Marion’s) for a new modern take on PSYCHO. And what’s fun is we’ve had 4 seasons worth of context to get us here! Check out this trailer:
According to executive producer Kerry Ehrin, “Norman is in an incredibly intense and interesting place that we’ve built him to when that sequence of episodes starts,” she told EW, while confirming that the new season picks up about 18 months after Norma’s (Vera Farmiga) death. “It’s this collision of Bates Motel storytelling and then Marion Crane showing up into that. He’s in a very fragile and lonely place, and Marion Crane is a charismatic woman, she’s super present when she’s with him and she’s very attractive — all those things are exactly what he needs right at this moment.”
