Bill Moseley On The Probability Of The Firefly Clan’s Return!

While Rob Zombie has remained incredibly prolific on all fronts with his multiple movies, albums and music videos, when it comes to his filmography, no two films are more celebrated by fans than the pair that feature the infamous Firefly Family: HOUSE OF 1000 CORPSES and THE DEVIL’S REJECTS. Although REJECT’S is technically a sequel to HOUSE, the film ended in a spectacular fashion with a rather conclusive finale for all the characters involved. (Trying to tread lightly in the off chance you clicked on this article and yet have never seen REJECTS.)

Regardless of THE DEVIL’S REJECTS’ ending, that has never stopped people from asking Otis himself, Bill Moseley, about the possibility of a third film in the series. On this week’s episode of the Blumhouse.com-produced podcast Shock Waves, he addressed the possibility of another Firefly movie:

“You know, it’s so funny. When people ask and they do – a lot of times, Sid Haig and I are at horror conventions together and we usually sit next to one another. During the course of any given day, inevitably, a fan will say ‘is there going to be a sequel?’ I go, ‘hey Sid.’ ‘Yeah!’ ‘Is there going to be a sequel to DEVIL’S REJECTS?’ And he goes, ‘Nope!’ And I go ‘how come?’ And we both go in unison, ‘Because we’re fucking dead!’”

Devil's Rejects

Despite it all, Rob Zombie himself has been known to tease the possibility in cryptic fashion via his social media pages.

“Darren Bousman the other night saw me with this beard for a movie I did in Sweden, and he’s convinced and a conspiracy theorist that I’d been talking to Rob lately (about another one),” said Mosely on the podcast. “‘Is little Otis coming out again?’”

“I do hope they do it!” confessed Bill about a new movie with the Firefly clan. “I’m wishing great success for Rob’s new movie 31, because that was entirely crowd funded, and maybe that’s the way (to make another movie together). I think that Lionsgate must own the rights (to the Firefly characters), so I’m sure there’d have to be some negotiation there. I don’t really know. I’m sure HOUSE OF 1000 CORPSES and DEVIL’S REJECTS both turned a profit, so I would think that’d be a good reason to do a third one.”

Whether it’ll ever happen is still up in the air, but you never know? And also, the story of how Moseley first met Rob Zombie in the first place is just as fascinating as the films, themselves! You can hear the above quotes, as well as the entire history between Moseley and Zombie on the latest Shock Waves podcast, embedded below for your convenience. HOUSE OF 1000 CORPSES talk begins around the 1 hr 10 minute mark, but we recommend kicking back and listening to the entire chat!
