At its E3 2016 press event, video game publisher Bethesda announced PREY, a first person sci-fi horror game for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. PREY is slated for release in 2017.
Bethesda didn’t show a ton of footage of the game, but what they did drop was pretty spectacular: The year is 2032, and you are on a medical space station. You are the subject of an experiment meant to alter humanity forever… but then disaster strikes. Aliens invade the space station, no doubt bent on some kind of horrible attack on humanity.
The PREY franchise has a strange history. The original PREY was released in 2006 for Xbox 360 and PC after more than a decade in development. The sci-fi game was successful enough to warrant a sequel, so PREY 2 was announced in 2008. At E3 2011, the first PREY 2 footage made a huge splash, but after that, not much was heard about the game… until 2014, when it was revealed that PREY 2 was canceled.
So the new PREY is not a sequel to 2006’s PREY, and it’s not a reboot. It’s just PREY. And it looks pretty rad. Check it out in the video below:
