BATMAN: THE KILLING JOKE is arguably one of the best Batman stories ever told. Hell, for me personally, and I’m sure a lot of you out there, it’s probably your favorite too. The one-shot graphic novel written by Alan Moore and illustrated by Brian Bolland shocked comic readers when it hit store shelves back in 1988, not only for telling the origin of the Joker, but for depicting one of the most controversial violet acts perpetrated against a beloved superhero character. And now, DC’s animated feature division is bringing it to life in a brand new movie later this year.
Not only are we finally going to see this story told in movie format, but both Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill are reprising their roles as Batman and The Joker, respectively. (As well as Tara Strong as Barbara Gordon/Batgirl.) And this is DC’s first R rated animated feature to date. The first trailer dropped and if you’re a fan of the book, you’re going to love this. Check it out courtesy of our friends at JoBlo.com.
Hearing Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill act out dialogue written by Alan Moore is just amazing. The release date for the Blu-Ray & DVD isn’t locked yet but stay tuned for more!
