HULU recently added several new horror titles to their movie selections, plus even more if you have the Showtime package upgrade. The five films we have listed below are now available for streaming with the most basic HULU package and are all recommended by Blumhouse.com. Set aside some time this weekend and watch or revisit these great horror flicks.
THE NINTH GATE (1999)
Directed by Roman Polanski (ROSEMARY’S BABY) and starring Johnny Depp, an antique book seller acquires a copy of a rare book that was supposedly written by the Devil himself. As he tries to research the book, he finds himself becoming further trapped in a world of cults and demonic activity.
I struggle to call this one a true horror film, but it is a damn good movie with amazing acting and enough genre notes to keep fans enthralled. Directed by William Friedkin (THE EXORCIST), a woman finds herself in a hotel with a paranoid ex-solider determined that their room has become infested with insects sent there by the government.
THE GIFT (2000)
Directed by Sam Raimi, this film fell rather quickly off the movie radar (likely because it is a bit tame and traditional for Raimi), but it is quite a good flick. In a small Georgia town, a psychic helps local law enforcement hunt down a killer.
Shot on location in Romania and using some top-notch creature and stop-motion effects, this flick is definitely one of Full Moon’s greatest films. Three college students touring Romania become involved in a local legend involving vampires.
OPEN WATER and OPEN WATER 2 (2003 and 2006)
Yesterday, Blumhouse.com posted up the real story that OPEN WATER is based on. Check it out here. Both part 1 and 2 of this successful franchise are now streaming on HULU.
