There’s an abandoned, overgrown house outside of Baltimore, Maryland that’s known by locals for its horrific history and creepy atmosphere. But only recently, it’s been drawing the attention of urban explorers and paranormal investigators — some of whom believe it to be the dwelling place of an extremely evil presence.
According to police reports, on Christmas Day in 1983, a man named Stephen Craig Johnson — described as a loving husband and father to a one-year-old boy — began acting strangely. His wife said Stephen had a history of drug use, but to her knowledge he had not taken drugs on that particular day, and he had never been violent or displayed erratic behavior. She said Stephen’s conversation suddenly became bizarre and paranoid, and he looked intensely frightened.
Shortly after this behavior began, the man reportedly became convinced that his infant son, Stephen Jr, was Jesus Christ reborn, and that the child needed to die for humanity’s sins. Johnson then violently attacked his wife — who suffered severe lacerations, but survived — and within the hour, police found him at his front doorstep holding the decapitated body of his son.
Over three decades later, Johnson’s former home remains empty, decrepit and rotting… and has developed a reputation for being haunted.
Urban explorer and filmmaker Dan Bell (whose works include the amazing DEAD MALL documentary series) recently visited the site, and quickly became convinced that the house itself was evil.
Bell filmed a walk-through of the house, and there’s a distinctively horrific look to the interior, highlighted by his discovery of a strange note on a closet shelf, next to what looks like a woman’s dress.
The note features an eerie pencil sketch of a young woman, accompanied by odd and anachronistic handwritten words:
I don’t know what made thy house evil, I only know that thee begs thy help of whatever within here can help with.
Shortly after, Bell finds the desiccated corpse of a raccoon laying in the exact center of the upstairs hallway…
But the creepiest find of all, in a dark corner of the attic, is the motionless body of a vulture, which appears to be either freshly dead or stuffed by a taxidermist… until we see it blink.
You can see many more extremely unsettling walk-throughs, just like this one (which is excellently enhanced by sound effects and music) on Dan Bell’s YouTube channel.
