Woman Photographs Ghost While Visiting Lizzie Borden’s House

Many visit the Lizzie Borden Bed & Breakfast looking for a thrill, but few have seen the mysterious figure Joanne Parent claims to have captured on camera.

For the few unfamiliar with the story, Lizzie Borden was tried for the vicious murder of her father Andrew and stepmother Abby, who were both killed by an axe-wielding assailant. The case gained national notoriety, and Lizzie was eventually acquitted. But many believed she committed the murders, and people have been fascinated with the case for over a century.

There’s even an old children’s rhyme:

Lizzie Borden took an axe
She gave her mother forty whacks.
When she saw what she had done
She gave her father forty-one.
Lizzie Borden got away
For her crime she did not pay.

Joanne and her sister were visiting the Lizzie Borden Bed & Breakfast, purchased by a friend, when she caught something unusual on camera in Abby Borden’s room.

“At about 2 p.m. I was so creeped out to actually go into Abby’s room, so I just reached my arm around the door frame and snapped a bunch of photos,” she said. “You can clearly see the outline of something, like the form of a woman wearing a hood.”

The bizarre story doesn’t end with the one photograph. Joanne has posted multiple versions of the same photo and a black bar – a reflection of a vent in the room – appeared in one photo where it hadn’t previously.

Co-owner Le-Ann Wilber says this isn’t the first time people have spotted something weird in the mirror or captured unexplainable phenomena on camera. “Depending on how you’re standing, you won’t see any anomalies in the mirror unless you take the picture from an angle. We’ve had plenty of pictures that were taken several years ago that can’t be explained, however, by a gentlemen by the name of Glenn Teza, a psychic and spiritual healing teacher from New Jersey. His photos show a mist figure and were taken with Instant Polaroid film and there is absolutely no way to mess with that film.”

So did Joanne actually capture a ghost on camera? Or was it just a trick of the light? Either way, Lizzie Borden B&B will probably be seeing more visitors now that the photos have gone viral.
