5 MORE Scary Urban Legends that Should Be Horror Movies

Let us dive once more into the abyss of those strange stories circulating around the internet that I swear happened to a friend of a friend of a guy I once met. Here again are five urban legends with a film pitch for each that I’m sure Hollywood will be falling all over themselves to buy from me. Fame and fortune, here I come. These are supposedly “true” urban legends currently circulating the Internet.

Check out out first 5 scary urban legends and corresponding horror movie pitches here.

A New Killer Insect is Spreading a Skin-Altering Virus

Diseases and viruses are classic horror standby. That strange rash, bump, or sore is enough to release the hypochondriac within each and every one of us. Add to that an insect capable of inflicting such torture and the horror stakes will surely rise.

The Myth: For a few years now, a picture has been circulating around the internet supposedly depicting a strange new bug with a killer self-defense mechanism. If crushed by a bare hand, the bug will release a virus into its slayer. The virus it releases causes all living tissue to deteriorate as it spreads throughout the body eventually killing and dissolving the host.

The Film: Two lovers from America go on a romantic vacation to India to see the most famous monument of love, the Taj Mahal.  Everything is going perfect until one day they are snatched from the street by a group of terrorists planning on holding them for ransom. They are taken to a remote site in the forest. As they wait for ransom, a group of American Navy Seals attack. The young couple are grabbed by the surviving terrorists and taken deeper into the forest with the commandos close behind. Suddenly, they stumble on to a village littered with partially dissolved bodies. Then one of the terrorists slaps an insect crawling on his arm and immediately comes down with the virus. The bugs are everywhere, the Navy Seals are on the attack, and the young American couple looks for a way to escape. Guns, bugs, and viruses HOORAY!

Ghost of Teen Kills People Won’t Repost Her Story On Facebook

The Myth: Jessica Smith was a typical 17-year-old girl growing up in rural Indiana. She wanted so desperately to fit in with the popular girls at her school, but just never could. Then one day, while outside during a fire drill, a group of girls decided it would be so fun to push her down an open manhole. Why the manhole was open, I have no idea. Regardless, Jessica was killed instantly as she fell down to the concrete sewer below. Six years later, a Facebook message appeared out of nowhere. It told its recipients that if they did not post the message with the words “She was pushed”, then the ghost of Jessica would appear and murder them.

The Film: This one kinda pitches itself. My work here is done.

Woman Dies After Wearing a Corpse’s Gown

The dead might seem like easy victims, but think twice before you decide to steal from one.

The Myth: A woman buys a gown from a used clothing store. The next day, after wearing it, she is found dead. The coroner quickly discovers that she has been poisoned by embalming fluid. Investigators find the dress and discover that it was once used to dress a corpse. When the woman wore the dress, the embalming fluid seeped into her pores and killed her.

Wooden casket made of Cherry in a funeral home.

The Film: A woman finds a cedar chest at a consignment shop. It is filled with with beautiful yet dated clothing – clothing that is her size. Slowly everything about her begins to change. She begins to wear nothing but the clothing she has found in the chest as she begins to take on a completely new personality. Eventually she comes to realize that a female serial killer once owned the chest and she is wearing the killers clothing. The spirit of that killer begins to further inhabit her as she fights to regain control while fighting the soul of the killer fighting to take control of her. One last look in the chest finds a dirty yet beautiful gown at the bottom. The gown is the final step in her transformation into the killer.

LQP-79 is the Zombie Virus

Lets find a way to make zombie films fun again!

Dog Saves Abandoned Newborn Baby

So this one is usually passed along as a feel good story, but with a little imagination you could make it pretty horrific.

The Myth: In an outdoor café a group of patrons are shocked to see a dog carrying a baby through the streets. Holding the baby gently in it’s jaws, it is clear the child has been abandoned seconds after it birth.

The Film: A new twist on Tarzan but this time the baby grows up to take revenge on the parents who left him for dead. His K9 brothers at his side, he is ready to take down anyone who stands in his way.
