For a while there, horror fans tended to frown on the idea of “remakes,” but it seems like there’s been a new successful way to appropriately approach retelling stories from some of the most iconic horror properties — on TV!
Reinterpretations like BATES MOTEL, HANNIBAL and SCREAM have all been rather successful. And there are more on the way, including a FRIDAY THE 13TH series, that have us intrigued. But the one we’ve been waiting for since it was first announced was DAMIEN, the modern take on THE OMEN franchise.
The first Comic-Con teaser trailer acknowledged the events of the original 1976 Richard Donner classic and made it seem like the show was a semi-sequel following an adult Damien as he embraces the dark truth that he is, in fact, the Anti-Christ. It comes from Glen Mazzara, the executive producer of THE WALKING DEAD and THE SHIELD, and stars Bradley James, Omid Abtahi, Megalyn Echikunwoke and Barbara Hershey.
How the plot of DAMIEN will unfold in this version shall remain a mystery until March of 2016 when it makes its debut on A&E, the home of BATES MOTEL. But to get you ready, the network has just released two new, stylistically creepy teasers with the tagline “Damien! It’s all for you!”
Check out the “Life Of The Party” and “Taxi” teasers below:
And if you want to see the original Comic-Con trailer we mentioned earlier, here it is for your convenience:
