We’ve known for quite some time now that filmmaker Scott Derrickson (SINISTER, DELIVER US FROM EVIL) was at the helm of Marvel’s upcoming mystical supernatural superhero flick DOCTOR STRANGE. But what’s super cool is it’s now been revealed that his long time writing collaborator C. Robert Cargill has also been secretly working on the script with him for the last year.
Cargill was originally a contributor to the Ain’t It Cool News website and struck up a friendship with Derrickson, who got his start in the movie biz with his directorial debut HELLRAISER: INFERNO, followed by THE EXORCISM OF EMILY ROSE and THE DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL. The two had continued to follow each other’s work over the years until Cargill pitched his idea for what would become SINISTER to Derrickson at a bar in Las Vegas. The project came together rather quickly and they encored by scripting the follow up SINISTER 2.
With DOCTOR STRANGE, Marvel is finally dipping their toes into the supernatural corner of their cinematic universe, and it’s cool to know that both Derrickson and Cargill are collaborating to bring out the spooky best from the master of the mythic arts. The film is currently in production with Benedict Cumberbatch, Rachel McAdams, Tilda Swinton and Mads Mikkelsen all starring and a November 4th, 2016 release date locked! We’ll keep you posted on more when we hear it. Here’s Cargill’s original tweet regarding his involvement.
So yeah. It’s finally out in the wild. I’ve been working on this for the better part of the last year. pic.twitter.com/BTZDaItsbt
