The White Lion Pub in Yateley, in the English county of Hampshire, has a history of alleged hauntings… but a new video clip seems to offer chilling evidence of a paranormal presence on the premises.
It’s a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it shot, but the video below — which was recently featured on the regional news site GetHampshire — does appear to show a translucent hooded figure at the top of the stairs at the far left of the frameL
The White Lion’s manager, Kate Staniszewska, told the site that a female apparition has been reported there many times… and claims to have felt its presence. “I live in the building and so I can feel it when I pass the ghost,” she said. “I’ve lived here six months and it’s happened a few times but this is the only place we have seen it.”
Other ghostly legends surrounding the pub include that of the original owner, James Rogers, whose favorite tankard is still in the bar. When someone moved it, the pub’s alarm system inexplicably went off during the night… much like it did when this latest apparition was recorded.
“The alarm was going off and we were looking back on the CCTV to see if there was any reason why,” said Andy Froker, an employee who recorded the security footage onto his phone. He also said this wasn’t the staff’s first experience with this phenomenon.
“There were only three of us in the pub one time and I was serving someone at the bar and the old manager was upstairs,” Froker recalled. “We heard a glass fall off of the shelf and smash and when we watched that back on the CCTV it looked like it had flown off the shelf rather than fallen.”
