BRING ME THE HORIZON Debuts Short Form Film For “True Friends”

The latest album by metalcore pioneers BRING ME THE HORIZON marks a drastic change in sound for the band. If you hold up any track from their 1st record “Count Your Blessings” and listen to it along side something from “That’s The Spirit,” you wouldn’t believe it’s the same band. And yet despite aggressively going for a more pop-friendly, catchy riff based sound, it’s by far their most successful release to date, having debuted at No. 2 on The Billboard 200 album chart after it’s first week of release.

There are already videos for tracks “Drown” and “Throne,” but the band have just debuted a new single, my personal favorite from the album “True Friends.” Only unlike the previous videos, this one doubles as a short film as well, directed by lead singer Oliver Sykes and featuring British actor Steve Oram who genre fans might recognize from Ben Wheatley’s SIGHTSEERS, or Edgar Wright’s THE WORLD’S END.

The clip evokes an overall uneasy vibe ala some of Wheatley’s films or at least to me reminiscent of TRUE DETECTIVE’s first season. While the lyrics are fairly straight forward, the video itself is something of an enigma. Regardless, for those of you that like your rock blisteringly heavy and your horror ambiguous, check out the video below.

“That’s The Spirit” is now available wherever music is sold!
